I have a will but it is old – how often should I review it?

When we meet with clients to prepare their wills, we recommend that they review their wills every 3 to 5 years or whenever they have a major life change.  When you are planning your will, the plan should reflect what you want to happen if you were to die tomorrow and not 20 years from now and if those wishes change, then your will should also change.  It may be that you won’t need to update your will for 10 or 20 years if your family circumstances have not changed, or you may need to change your will several times in the period of 2 or 3 years.
